Aloha and welcome to the Sligo Surf Experience blog 3

Our Easter Surf Camps back in April were the highlight of our spring so far. We got a great crew of young people out surfing with us for the week. It was great to see some familiar faces.

But we also had a good number of new beginners who enjoyed their introduction to surfing and caught lots of awesome waves as the week progressed. In addition to surf camps, we had lots of fun adult surf session during the Easter break at Strandhill Beach. We were treated to some spring sunshine and the water is heating up slowly as we make our way towards summer.

We are delighted to have our surf instructors Ruairi Davis and Jacob Noyce back for the season. We are glad to have such an epic team of instructors once again for the summer season ahead.

Summer camps

We still have places availablefor our Ocean Warrior surf camps this June, July and August. Available dates are listed at the end of this blog. Places are filling up fast so get in touch and book early to avoid disappointment. If dates book out, we can add a second camp on certain weeks so no one gets left out.

And don't forget, our summer camps are not just for U16s. We also offer teen and adult surf camps. If you want to learn to surf in five days, our surf camps are perfect for you. Our structured five-day camps mean you will be able to progress from learning the absolute basics on day one to practicing more intermediate surf techniques by the end of the week such as catching unbroken waves and turning left and right. You will also learn about how rips and tides work and how different wind and swell conditions affect the waves at Strandhill beach.

Sligo Surf Experience blog

This is Seamus Mc Goldrick. I am the owner of Sligo Surf Experience in Strandhill and a team rider with Science bodyboards. As well as being a professional bodyboarder and a busy surf school manager, I love to write. I am also passionate about sharing the history of Sligo surfing and Strandhill village and the Coolera peninsula. I want to use my blog to share lots of surfing hints, tips and techniques with you. I'll give you an insiders guide to the Sligo surfing scene and let you know about all the fun things to do in Sligo. There is more to County Sligo than just surfing. Sligo is situated along the surf coast of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.

Sligo is known as Ireland's Adventure Capital so there are lots of things to do in Sligo. There are plenty of unique Sligo walks, you can go on an adventure on Lough Gill with Sligo Kayak Tours and or experience hiking and biking adventures over the Ox Mountains.

Strandhill is also an excellent foodie destination. You can also Chill in Strandhill as there is lots of wellness offerings too like yoga, massage and spa treatments. You can also dive into the history and heritage of Strandhill by visiting Dolly's Cottage, exploring the Killaspugbron Loop or visiting the resting place of a warrior queen by taking the Queen Maeve trail to the top of Knocknarea: the iconic limestone hill that dominates the Coolera Peninsula.

But you haven't done it all unless you come for a surf lesson in Strandhill with Sligo Surf Experience.
